Deep organic growth and green algae removal on neglected cedar panels

Location: Newport, OR (coastal environment)

This oceanfront home had one wall completely covered in heavy green algae and organic buildup — years of moisture, shade, and salt air had left the cedar dark and slick. Our goal was to restore the natural look of the wood without damaging the grain or surface fibers.

We used a specialized soft wash blend of sodium metasilicate and surfactants, applied hot through an X-Jet system for deep penetration. This breaks down organic growth and lifts embedded biofilm from the wood pores. After a controlled dwell period, the siding was thoroughly rinsed with low pressure, then treated with oxalic acid to neutralize and brighten the cedar back to its warm, natural tone.

The results speak for themselves — bright, clean cedar that looks years younger.
